Effing Fish & Chips

Ingredients

2lbs of any fish fillets

1 pack Effing Fish Batter

Effing Spice Blend

2 tbsp olive oil

¾ cup cold water or beer

Vegetable oil for frying

2-3 Large russet potatoes

Salt & Pepper to taste

Effing Tartar sauce for serving

Lemon Wedges

Coleslaw to pair

Bring restaurant-quality flavour home with this classic Effing Fish & Chips recipe. Crispy, golden-battered fish paired with perfectly seasoned fries and our house-made Effing Tartar Sauce — it’s the ultimate comfort meal done right. Whether you’re using haddock, cod, or your favourite white fish, this recipe guarantees that fresh, flaky, pub-style perfection every time.

Directions
  1. Prep the Fries: Preheat oven to 425°F. Cut potatoes to desired length and width. Toss fries with olive oil, Effing Spice Blend and a pinch of salt. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet. Bake 25-30min, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy. (You can also use airfryer: 400°F for 15-20min)
  2. Prepare the Batter: In a bowl, mix half 2 cups of Effing Fish batter with 2 cups of cold water or beer. Optional: Add a pinch of Effing Spice Blend for extra flavour. Whisk until smooth
  3. Prepare the Fish: Season fillets lightly with Salt & Pepper. Dip fillets into a bowl of dry batter then dip into the wet batter. Letting any excess drip off.
  4. Fry the Fish: Heat oil in a skillet or deep fryer to 350°F. Fry fillets 4-5 minutes per side, until golden and crispy (Internal temp of 145°F). Drain on paper towel.
  5. Serve: Plate the crispy fish with the homemade fries. Add a dollop of Effing Tartar sauce, squeeze of lemon and your favourite coleslaw.
